Everything comes in boxes these days, everything from new electronics
to White goods.
A long time ago I discovered that when you sell something
people always want to know if you have the box it came in.(I dont know, they just do!)
In the interests of getting top dollar should I ever sell
anything I started keeping the boxes and of course keeping the manual, unwanted
leads, clips etc in the box in case I ever wanted them either.
I found with Camping and Outdoor gear it was best kept in it’s
original box for storage but the boxes never lasted… I started wrapping the
boxes in Duct Tape.
First you go around all the edges, corners and hinge joints
with a lap of tape, then wrapping carefully the whole box. Once that’s done I
reinforce around the edges once more until no part of the box remains in sight
and the box is tough enough for many years of camping mayhem. In this way all
my best camping gear is still in the original Cardboard reinforced Duct Tape
Boxes.

It never really occurred to me until someone looked at the wall half covered by boxes and asked me why they were there… ..and I looked and wondered the same thing.

In all those boxes, all those unread manuals, unwrapped
leads, unknown clips and do-hickeys, some boxes empty and some with long forgotten,
broken, replaced, upgraded or unloved electronic products.
