This happened in February in Southern Australia, it's a regular thing for young Aussies..at least until they learn a few very painful lessons. This burn was treated the minute it was noticed by being doused every five minutes with ice cold Aloe vera until the bottle ran out, then the victim was sat under a cool shower until the complaining go too much and we let her out.
Even so you can see it was very nearly a third degree burn which needed weeks of burn creams, cortisone creams, penicillin and total avoidance of any amount of sun.
She would have been hospitalised except she had kids at home to look after, instead she had many hot and horrible nights as Summer wound on.
I well remember as a youth, the burns sticking to the sheets in the stiflingly hot Summer nights, the skin sticking and being ripped right off when you rolled over. I like to think Ive learned my lesson and I think this young woman might have too..
