and my excuse is...

How was your New Years Eve? Not as bad as Kermits I hope. I had a few Roman coffees with friends and ended up a bit messed up.

 The ultimate 6 pack?

South Australia is in the midst of a heatwave and extreme fire danger period. It was 46 here today (116F) and will be 48 tomorrow (119F) The dogs really want to get out of the house but it's just too hot. (this isn't my puppy)

THIS is my puppy MAX with his first place ribbon for dog obedience won this last November.
I should really shut up here but will tell you that his ribbon was for first place in the PUPPY CLASS which took him the whole year to pass. He was up against tiny little puppies that he only had to step on to remove from competition.

Hi,
Couldn't help but laugh at what the parents wrote, that was unreal, the P.E. teachers must of got a good laugh out of those. :)

It must be awful in that heatwave that you are having at the moment, you had a one last year as well if I remember correctly, anyway try and keep cool.

It doesn't matter how long it took Max to get his ribbon, the point is he made it. :)

I've only kept two parent notes in my career...one literal "dog ate homework" and one asking me to extend an assignment because they had "Family Poker Night"...

We are at -8 F (-23 C?) here in Vermont, USA....I sympathize with you! Too bad we couldn't find a way to balance each other out!!

Congratulations to Max. Perseverance is the key.
I heard on the news this heatwave is set to continue for about ten days.
I'm not happy.
Temperatures over 27C just about do me in. Humidity makes it so much worse. So far we've had dry heat.

My New Year's Eve was quiet, I stayed home napping and reading. I heard some fireworks and stepped outside to see if I could see any sparkles, but couldn't.

I've read some excuse slips in my time, but those were the funniest! New Year's Eve was spent listening to local teens set off firecrackers and hearing all the dogs in the neighborhood go crazy.

I love that Max finally passed and also won first place. What a cutie.

I think I've been administrating too. Made quite a mess, I can tell you.

Happy New One to you mate.

Hi Mags, It's a crap job being a teacher so I guess the poor buggers take whatever constellation they can from the job. As I get older I'm really not up to this heat anymore, a week above 40C, ten hot days in a row overall.
Hi Mock, Thats seriously cold mate, Ive been at -5 and thought that was bloody freezing, I cant imagine -23 let alone the much colder temps you get. Interesting that family though their Family Poker Night was more important than homework.. and probably wouldnt understand the wrong they were doing.
Hi River, The problem with Max is that he's stubborn, he can do it all if he's in the mood, it just took all year to get that good day where he felt like doing the work and passed. He was getting to be a bit of a joke among the dog club.. I had a good NYE, a few drinks with friends and bed at 2.30am (Thats not at all normal for me)

Hi Pearl, They can be a lot of fun for sure, I guess we're lucky here to have the room to keep dogs. At the moment Ive got my two Fox Terriers and Max...and another Foxy pup I'm training for a friend. It's true that I'm getting a little stressed with four dogs.
Hi Belle, I let the dogs out at midnight so I could train and reassure them as the fireworks went off. That way they dont get frightened when they hear them in future. My two old foxies couldn't care less, Max is learning fast and the pup was scared but took it in her stride because the other dogs were calm.
Hi Jules, I hope we're going to hear that story sometime soon on your page...pictures to follow? Cheers
